Members of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) from Hollister High School attended the District 18 Leadership Conference in Springfield, Missouri, on Tuesday, February 18, where they elected district officers, attended workshops, and competed in various business-related competitive events. Awards were also presented to members placing in the top five during the afternoon session.
Members from Hollister receiving awards were James Kelley – 3rd place Networking Concepts and 5th place Computer Problem Solving; Mary Grace Mundy – 3rd place FBLA Principles and Procedures and 5th place Accounting I; Carter Williams, Jonah Hendrickson, and Juan Crawford – 3rd place in Public Service Announcement; and Noah Block, Katie Dixon, and Emily Lemons – 1st place in Hospitality Management.
James Kelley, Mary Grace Mundy, Noah Block, Katie Dixon, and Emily Lemons will advance to state competition which is held in Columbia, Missouri, April 15-17. Abel Galvan received a wild card invitation to compete in Agribusiness at state competition.
Noah Block was installed as the District 18 Vice President for Communication for the 2014-2015 school year and also received the outstanding chapter member award.
District 18 consists of 20 schools in theSouthwest Missouriarea comprised of 800 members. There were 600 members who competed in one or more of 52 different events – 27 of those events requiring a performance component.
