LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The missing pilot has been found dead as announced by the Arkansas Forestry Commission and National Guard.
Jake Harrell has been missing since Friday, Jan. 31.while out on patrol for wildfires. Agencies have participated on air and ground searching for the pilot.
The commission reported the Civil Air Patrol found the plane on Tuesday around 4:00 p.m. in southwest Arkansas, the sighting was confirmed by a State Police helicopter. Once crews approached the plane, the pilot had been found dead.
Now, the investigation into how the pilot crashed begins.
One reason why Harrell was hard to find could possibly be the malfunctioning emergency locator transmitter, which could cause a problem in finding out how he crashed.
The crash site is in Montgomery County a few miles away from Cadoo Hills School.
