MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an assault and looking for a suspect.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call placed around 3:05 a.m. on Sunday, February 9 from a neighbor reporting a disturbance at 136 CR 1073.  Deputies arrived on scene and found the electricity turned off.  While making an entry, deputies found a female locked inside the bathroom.

No other persons were in the residence at that time.

After speaking with the female, she told deputies what had taken place.  According to the female, there were five people staying at the residence, one including the suspect Michael David Hamilton.  Allegedly, Hamilton woke the female up to tell her the power was off.  Once she got out of bed, he attacked her with a metal pipe and struck her several times before she was able to hide in the bathroom and lock the door.

Reportedly, Hamilton attacked three other people inside the residence after.

The Sheriff’s office is currently looking for the whereabouts of 34-year-old Michael David Hamilton, whose last known address was in Yellville, Ark.  Deputies tracked Hamilton’s footsteps in the snow to a roadway where the trail had stopped.  He is believed to have fled the area that morning.

A vehicle was reported to the Sheriff’s Office around 9:00 a.m. from a residence nearby.  This vehicle is stolen and reported as a 2007 Red Dodge SQ3 4 door flatbed truck with a chrome brush guard and a diamond toolbox, bearing Arkansas License NO.  376NHF. He is allegedly involved in the theft of this vehicle.

Authorities are in the process of obtaining a felony bench warrant for his arrest on charges of felony battery in the second degree and other charges.

This incident remains under active investigation.  Noted while inside the residence were drugs and drug paraphernalia, filling of additional charges are probable.
