Lady ‘Cats Win Big
The College of the Ozarks’ Lady ‘Cats provided Coach Becky Vest with a big win (91-31) in her head coaching debut. Freshman guard Jeana Raper led the Bobcats with 17 points, thanks to her excellent shooting percentage. She was 5-7 in field goals, 5-6 in three-point shots, and brought down 6 rebounds. Close behind was Emily Walker with 15 points and sophomore Brandy Uchtman with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Ecclesia struggled with their offense, hitting only 11 of 46 field goals and naught of their 8 three-point attempts. Moniqua Davis was the leading scorer for Ecclesia with 13 points and eight rebounds. The evening provided a great start to the season for the Lady Bobcats, who will take to their home court again on Friday against Ottawa University at 7:00 P.M.
Bobcats Score a Victory
In their first official game of the season, the College of the Ozarks’ Bobcats pulled out a close one against Lyon College with a score of 58-51. The game showcased a great deal of defense, resulting in numerous turnovers for both teams. The Bobcats’ leading scorer was senior Nathane Simniok, who went 6 for 8 in field goals and 11 of 15 in free throws, for a total of 23 points along with seven total rebounds. Lyon College’s guard Riley Jenkins also scored 23 points, going 6-12 in field goals, 2-4 in three pointers, and providing his team with 9 rebounds. The score was tight through most of the game, until the Bobcats managed to stretch their lead in the last two minutes of the game. The Bobcats will host Southwestern College on Saturday at 3:15 PM as part of the College’s homecoming festivities.
