Citizen's Review Board Sought in Ozark County

A rash of deaths related to prescription drugs in Ozark County results in a change in reporting procedures in the sheriff’s office.

According to Ozark County Sheriff Darrin Reed, his office will no longer take reports from the public on stolen prescription drugs. Reed says people seeking drugs have filed reports on stolen medications, knowing the only way a doctor will re-prescribe a medication is with a police report.

Reed cites a home in Tecumseh in which five people have died, all from an overdose of prescription drugs.

The sheriff wants to start a citizen review board to look into the county’s prescription drug deaths.

If you live in Ozark County and would like to be on the review board, call Sheriff Darrin Reed at 417-679-4633.
