The Branson Utilities Department requested the City purchase a portable closed circuit camera system for more than $85,000. Utilities Director Mike Ray says the camera would allow the department to better plan for maintenance and repair needs:
Ray says the department will inspect a minimum of 15-thousand feet of sewer lines per year. He says the City has nearly a million feet of sewer lines. The four employees, who work in the sewer collection division, will be trained to use the equipment. Two employees will be assigned to operate the camera on a part-time basis.
Aldermen gave initial approval Tuesday. A final reading of the bill will be at the next City Council meeting on July 23rd.
