A Boone County man whose trial was scheduled to start Monday made a plea deal instead.
52 year old Michael Bass was to have stood trial for the robbery of the Exxon convenience store in Bellefonte on New Year’s Eve. Before the trial could start, Bass pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, theft of property, resisting arrest and criminal trespass. In exchange for the plea, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Bass will likely serve no less than half of his prison term before becoming eligible for parole.
Bass had been charged with stealing about $6,800 in cash from the Exxon station on December 31st. He was arrested the next day.
